Dales September Prayerletter 2011
Dear Friends and Family:
Praise God from whom all blessings flow. This last month has been filled with many blessings and burdens.
We were blessed to have another Youth missions team visit from New Hampshire to assist in work projects around the church and host a youth event for local teenagers. The group painted, worked in the hot sun, ministered in music, and encourged the church and teenagers here. However, early in the week the Youth Pastor leading the group fell and broke his wrist. Not deterred, he displayed a great spirit (glad it was not one of the teens) and overall the week went well as we saw over 50 teens at the event and a few decisions to receive Christ. August in Arizona was recorded as the hottest on record and there were many AC casualties, with ours being one of them. Thankfully we were not without the cooling for an extended period, but repairs were over $600. To exacerbate matters, the AC in our van went out as well. A pastor friend is repairing it, although we do not know the cost yet. Since things come in threes, our Suburban was not left out. We used the vehicle to transport the two missions groups and then the week after, the fuel pump died. In all of this Wayne had taken work off from the other job for the groups and has not worked in a month.
God has taught us to depend upon Him more. Prayer truly becomes more reinforcing as we teach our children that God will provide. As adult Christians, we are rarely called upon to demonstrate our faith in tangible ways to others. As missionaries it is easy to preach and encourage others to "hold the line," and not let Satan cause you to stumble. We must be believers who not only pray, but follow our words with action. Thank you for praying and acting on our behalf. You are God's instruments.
Love in Christ,
Wayne, Shanna, Rylee, Gloria, & Claire
The children have all started back to school. Rylee is in 3rd grade and is learning multiplication, capitalization, and US colonial history. He is enjoying his classes and is a good student. He also just started practice for the fall soccer league with his friend, Diego. We are excited about developing a friendship with his parents during this time as well.
Gloria is finishing up 1st grade right now. She has about 5 or 6 weeks to finish and then we will start 2nd grade. She enjoys language arts, although spelling is a difficulty for her. She is slow and methodical which helps her to do well in Math and on tests. We are going to sign her up for T-ball next month, and see how she likes it. She seems to have pretty good hand-eye coordination and balance, and she enjoyed playing in the backyard this summer.
Claire is really growing. The Holy Spirit is at work in her life. She has really been cheerfully obedient and helpful around the house. It is amazing to watch the 4 & 5 year olds develop their awareness of sin and their need for a Savior. We pray that she will soon place her faith in Christ alone. She has also been doing school, working in some Kindergarten readiness workbooks. She recognizes all her letters and numbers to 20, and has recently learned to write her own name. Her jubilant excitement over everything continues to be a delight to all.
We were blessed to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary the end of August. It was reminiscent of what it would have been like if we had met at a younger age. We had to borrow Shanna's parent’s vehicle to go out to dinner as ours was not functioning.
We are looking forward to cooler weather as it brings more ministry opportunities. Wayne enjoys being able to interact more because there are more people outside and not in such a hurry to get out of the heat. Shanna has picked up a few more piano students, and has about 1 more month of English instruction to the Latin rookie baseball players. Thanks for your prayers.
